Hi. Thank you for your interest in our games and GameComponents™!

I have been working with 3D graphics and games since I was a student at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 1996. GameComponents™ are technologies I have worked on/with for many years. I have developed several engineering applications, software/game/web technologies, solutions, and many games, such as e.g. Belt Colony on Steam. I have also written several papers, e.g. in IEEE MultiMedia, made many courses, e.g. on Udemy. I hope and believe you will find these efforts highly interesting and valuable.

Why the dual engineering software and game development focus?

Game development and engineering software development have much in common. Both fields comprise advanced and complex challenges that require strong problem-solving skills, technical creativity, and attention to detail. Many principles and techniques used in engineering software can be effectively applied to game development, and vice versa, such as e.g. 3D graphics, physics simulations, real-time rendering, remote visualization, optimization, user experience design, etc.

There are differences between the fields as well. Engineering software often prioritizes accuracy, reliability, and adherence to industry standards, while game development emphasizes creativity, entertainment value, and immersive experiences. For example, when simulating physical phenomena, engineering software may require precise calculations (e.g. use double precision floating-point values) and adherence to real-world physics, but in games, approximations and optimizations (e.g. use single precision floating-point values) are often employed to achieve real-time performance and enhance gameplay.

By combining expertise in both engineering software and game development, we can create innovative solutions that leverage the strengths of each field, resulting in high-quality games that are not only entertaining but also technically robust and efficient, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of what is possible in engineering software.
